Happy Release Day Nikki! (August 29th 2013)

Hey, Saturnites! I'm so sorry for the late post! I wanted to wait until I had buy links for American Girl On Saturn before I posted my big release day post, buuuuuut it appears Amazon is being weird. Here's the quote straight from the author herself.

"Bear with me, you guys. Amazon's Kindle site doesn't seem to want to publish American Girl On Saturn. I've been fighting with it since this afternoon. Hopefully it'll work itself out soon!"

So Kindle owners, we hope to have the book to you guys as soon as possible! She's still trying to work it out. (If you use Smashwords to download your ebooks, you can pick up AGOS there!) We WILL get this book to you through Amazon soon, though!

Nook owners, the link will be at the bottom of the post for you to click on so you can get your own copy of AGOS!!

I can officially say this countdown is over!! Thank you so much to all the people who joined me every day and kept up with the Saturn love! I love you guys and so does Nikki!!

And thank you Nikki for allowing me to saturnize my blog! Love you!!

The summer after graduation is supposed to be that first real taste of freedom - but not for eighteen-year-old Chloe Branson. Just as that breeze of freedom is making its way into her galaxy, her secret-service-agent dad drops a meteor-sized bomb of bad news on her and her sisters. An attempt has been made on the lives of Canadian boyband, Spaceships Around Saturn, during their USA tour, and the guys have to go into hiding ASAP. The only problem? In the midst of the crisis and media frenzy, their dad volunteered to hide the guys...in their house.

Six-year-old Emery is as ecstatic as any self-proclaimed Saturnite would be, but Chloe and her seventeen-year-old sister Aralie watch their summer plans crash and burn like a falling star. The SAS guys aren't happy with the situation, either. Bad boy Jules picks fights with Aralie about everything from his Twitter followers to his laundry, and heart-throb Benji can't escape Emery's fangirlisms for more than three minutes.

But after the super-cute Milo kisses Chloe during a game of hide-and-seek, she finally understands what Emery means when she talks about SAS being "out of this world." If this is what Saturn feels like, Chloe doesn't want to come back to Earth.

My Top Ten Favorite Lines from American Girl on Saturn

Before I post my top ten lines, I want you to know that it was extremely hard for me to not post the entire book on here. Nikki's got a way with words and can make anything sound beautiful! So, I had to pick just ten. Some of these don't seem impactful, but trust me, they are in context! Others, I just really liked! :)

I cringe and wish there was a way I could slip in between the couch cushions to the land of lost pennies, dust bunnies, and bread crumbs.

“Since Aralie won’t marry you, I guess you can be my dog,” she says. (Emery to Jules)

Hours later, Aralie compares the bug zapper to an electric chair for mosquitoes. (< Totally a comparison I would make!)

That’s like…” Emery pauses and looks at me. Then she looks back at Paige and Lauren. “It’s like when you tattle on someone because they are naked in your sister’s room. Then you get in trouble for tattling, but the naked person doesn’t get in trouble for being naked.”

Noah walks over to me with one arm outstretched.
“Did you completely die inside without us?” he asks, pulling me into a one-armed hug.
“I did,” Emery answers. “Chloe only did sometimes.”

Then Emery says exactly what we’re all thinking.
“Uh oh. Here comes a scarf.”

“But here’s the thing,” he says. “I may bleed every single day for the world, but I bleed the most for you.”

“My wish is for you to be my firefly,” I say. “After lockdown ends, we’ll only see each other in moments, for short flickers of time.”
“And it’ll always make us smile,” Milo says.

It may be summer, but I’m thankful for that sliver of winter.

And then there’s an ever-familiar flutter.

Make sure you guys get the book in TWO DAYS!! and read these lines in context for yourself!! :)

The SAS boys' second mom is..

Shelly Branson is obviously the Branson sisters' mother, but near the end of the book, the SAS boys begin to think of her as their second mother, too. She's a very crafty woman who has her hands full trying to keep Emery from smothering Benji and Aralie and Jules from killing each other. God only knows what she'd have done if she knew Chloe and Milo snuck out together every night. She loves her family and her five new 'sons'.

Make sure you guys buy the book in 3 DAYS to get to know Mrs. Branson better!!

American Girl on Saturn's fake butler is...

Godfrey Powell has always served as the Branson sisters pseudo-grandfather. He's been a part of the Branson's lives since before Chloe was born. He's their 'butler', but he's definitely more like family! Throughout the entire book he only says one sentence, but he says it multiple times. He also becomes quite close to one of the Saturn boys!

To find out Godfrey's one line and which Saturn boy becomes his favorite, you'll have to read the book in 4 days!!

Interview with Milo Grayson

Okay Saturnites, today we have a super special guest! The marvelous Milo Grayson is here!

So, tell us Milo, what is your favorite thing about being a member of THE Spaceships Around Saturn?
The brotherhood, chasing my dream, and the Saturnites.

Do you ever get nervous when you walk on stage and see all those thousands of screaming and crying Saturnites?
You never get used to people screaming and crying over you, but stage fright hasn't ever really been an issue for me. My adrenline is usually rushing hardcore before a show. I've only had stage fright one time in my life, and it wasn't even on a performance night...

Has a fan ever brought you something extremely off the wall to one of your shows?
Oh, I'm sure they do, but security does a good job of keeping it from us... but one time, there was this girl whose dad managed a grocery store. They delivered a truck full of strawberry milk to our hotel.

What made you decide to learn how to play guitar?
Isaac Torrey of Sebastian's Shadow. Best guitarist everrrrr. He's a musical genius, and I strive to be that awesome.

If you were deserted on an island and could only have one of your Saturn brothers for company, who would you want with you and why?
Benji or Noah. I already live with Benji, so I could handle that. But I hang out with Noah more than the others, when we're off tour anyway. I'll say Noah.

Is there anything special you have to have with you on tour?
Just milk and Oreos. I can survive without it, but then I have a tendency to get all diva-ish like Noah and Benji.

Where is your absolute most favorite place to tour?
The USA, hands down. It's my second home.

What is your favorite Saturn song to perform live?
"Music Up, Windows Down"

Is there any band you would spend the night outside of an arena for?
I have no idea what is wrong with my Saturn brothers. Seriously? We're musicians. We breathe music and lyrics. And you guys would rather sleep and score tickets from fans? Live a little! I'd wait alllllll night for Sebastian's Shadow!!

Last question. If you were a girl, who would your favorite Saturn boy be?
Benji Bikini!

Thanks for joining me, Milo!

Saturnites, you wanna find out that one time Milo got stage fright? Then make sure to buy American Girl On Saturn in 5 days!!!!

Interview with Noah Winters

The tattooed rocker of Spaceships Around Saturn has decided to pay us a visit!

So, Noah, Benji has quite a lot of tattoos, but I hear from different sources that YOU have more than he does. Is this true?
I'm the most inked. I will always be the most inked. Benji is a splatter painting in comparison to me.

Everyone who is anyone knows that you must have your strawberry milk first thing every morning.
What they don't know is, why strawberry?
Ha! Cool story. When I little, all the kids used to get chocolate milk during recess, and some of the girls got strawberry because it was in the pink carton. The other guys refused to drink it, but I've always been a bit rebellious. Every seven-year-old girl on the playground wanted to hook up with me. And ya know, I just grew to actually like strawberry milk.

Have you ever considered getting any piercings like your Saturn brother Jules?
Considered, yes. Would I follow through and really do it? Probably not.

If you were stuck at home during a storm and you only had the Twilight Saga and the Harry Potter Series on DVD to watch, which one would you chose to watch?
Twilight Saga. I've never liked HP.

If you were deserted on an island and could only have one of your Saturn brothers for company, who would you want with you and why?
Milo, for sure. I hang out with him the most outside of touring. He should've been MY bromance. Who the hell came up with Tito anyway?

Is there anything special you have to have with you on tour?
An endless supply of strawberry milk.

Where is your absolute most favorite place to tour?
Any big city - Chicago, Miami, New York. Love the city life.

What is your favorite Saturn song to perform live?
"Music Up, Windows Down"

Is there any band you would spend the night outside of an arena for?
No, I need my sleep. Last I checked, they don't serve strawberry milk outside of venues. Definitely not worth it.

Last question. If you were a girl, who would your favorite Saturn boy be?
Noah Winters, of course ;)

Thanks for coming by, Noah! Tomorrow, Milo Grayson will be here to tell what HE thinks the best thing about being in Spaceships Around Saturn is! :)

Interview with Jules Rossi

Today I have with me none other than the Saturn bad boy himself, Jules Rossi.

So, in the Saturn world, it is well known that those black locks of yours aren't really black but blond. Did management not think it was a good idea to have two blond boys in one band, did they want to make you look more edgy, or does the black just make you feel more you?
I've always been the one to experiment with different looks. I prefer a darker look honestly. But if management told me to do something, I'd pretty much do the opposite.

If you were deserted on an island and could only have one of your Saturn brothers for company, who would you want with you and why?
Well, I won't say Tate since his only use for me is to feed me to Bigfoot. I'm gonna go with Noah. He won't have any strawberry milk, therefore he'll never speak and I won't have to listen to his bitching and moaning. I'd have to listen to any of the others.

When you're not touring, what is your favorite thing to do?
I spend too much time with video games and going to movies. I'm a junkie.

What is the best thing about being in Spaceships Around Saturn?
Getting to do what I love, hanging out with my 4 best friends, seeing new places, and meeting new people.

Is there anything special you have to have with you on tour?
Cigarettes.

Where is your absolute most favorite place to tour?
The USA was great. I also really love touring across Canada, though. Shout out to the hometown fans!

What is the most embarrassing thing that's happened to you on stage?
I once sang the wrong words, and Benji stood there frozen on stage staring at me like I was the dumbest person in the world, which only made me screw it up more.

What is your favorite Saturn song to perform live?
"End of Time"

Is there any band you would spend the night outside of an arena for?
A few years ago, I'd have said Jack's Deathbed. And you might could get me, in a moment of weakness, to wait around all night for Mutilated Arteries. They're a post-lockdown guilty pleasure band for me.

Last question. If you were a girl, who would your favorite Saturn boy be?
Benji, no doubt. Did you really think I'd say someone else? (and the Jenji rumors resurface. Have fun, Saturnites)

Thanks Jules!

Noah Winters stops by tomorrow, so make sure you do, too!

Interview with Benji Baccarini

Today we have the beautiful Benji Baccarini joining us!

So, tell us Benji, are the rumors true? Do you really have twenty-seven tattoos?
Don't believe anything you read on Twitter. Unless I say it myself. People make up some crazy stuff. I don't have 27 tats...yet. But I'm well on my way!

The Saturnite girls want to know how to win over your affection or at least how to get noticed by you on Twitter. What is the best way for them to go about doing it?
Don't be crazy. Really, if you spam me, act desperate, or threaten to kill yourself because I didn't follow you, that's not going to "win over my affection." I'll simply report you and block you. Why do you think Noah has more followers than me? If you want me to notice you, be real. Stay calm. Just be cool. It's that simple.

It's been floating around the atmosphere of Saturn that you and your bandmate Milo Grayson have recently bought a house in Montreal together. Is there any truth in this?
Yep. All true. But please don't lurk around outside of our windows because Milo will scream and you all know damn well that he can hit high notes.

What made you and Milo decide to live together? I was certain the bromance was Jenji not Benlo.
I love all my brothers. Milo and I were both just looking to get out on our own, and we do a lot of songwriting together. So why not, eh?

If you were deserted on an island and could only have one of your Saturn brothers for company, who would you want with you and why?
Milo. We already live together, so I know I can handle being stuck with him. Plus, he's my co-writer, and none of the other guys come up with lyrics like he can.

Is there anything special you have to have with you on tour?
Twitter access... and if I can't have that, note cards. Lockdown taught me to be slightly less of a diva.

Where is your absolute most favorite place to tour?
We haven't toured a ton of places yet, but the USA was great. New York was amazing, you know, before...

What is your favorite Saturn song to perform live?
"Love Like This"

Is there any band you would spend the night outside of an arena for?
Not really. I love a lot of bands, but I'd just sneak in with Tate. Dude's always scoring tickets to sold out events.

Last question. If you were a girl, who would your favorite Saturn boy be?
Milo or Noah... Let's go with Noah. He's more tatted than Milo.

Thanks for joining us Benji! If you Saturnites want, you can head over to Twitter and follow @Benji_Baccarini at any time!

Make sure to stop by here tomorrow and find out Jules Rossi's most embarrassing tour moment!

8 days left until American Girl On Saturn!!!

Interview with SAS's Tate Kingsley

For the next five days, you'll get to read information that only our Saturn boys know! Read just what they have to say! :)

The adorable Tate Kingsley joins me today!

Is it true that you're the prankster of the group?
Yeah, that's me. One time, I emptied Benji's shampoo bottle and filled it with lemon juice. He didn't speak to me for a week. And another time, with Milo... ah, never mind. Milo still gets mad about that. We won't go there.

Do you have any hidden talents?
Um, I can skateboard? Is that a talent? I don't think that's what you meant, though.

Who is one celebrity you would love to meet and haven't had the chance to yet?
Louis Tomlinson of One Direction. I know, I know, he's supposed to be competition and all that crap, but dude's hilarious, and I think we'd be mastermind pranksters if we formed an alliance.

What's your favorite holiday to celebrate?
My birthday! Because I love when people give me stuff :)

If you were deserted on an island and could only have one of your Saturn brothers for company, who would you want with you and why?
Jules. We got closer during lockdown, and he's the only one who'll play Xbox with me any time I ask. Plus, he smokes, so if some Bigfoot island monster came after us, I could outrun him and survive. Sorry Jules!

Is there anything special you have to have with you on tour?
Not really. It helps having an Xbox or Wii on the bus. I get bored easily. I need entertainment.

Where is your absolute most favorite place to tour?
We haven't toured many places yet. I want to go to Africa and ride on an elephant. I can't do it here. It has to be in Africa. Then Africa will be my favorite place to tour...some day.

What is your favorite Saturn song to perform live?
"To The Moon." I know it's a cliché boyband song, but it makes the girls so happy.

Is there any band you would spend the night outside of an arena for?
Nah, I'd just use my celebrity status to get in at the last minute. Or I'd ask on Twitter if anyone has an extra ticket. Works every time.

Last question. If you were a girl, who would your favorite Saturn boy be?
Milo. He's so romantic and sweet and good looking. (Obviously, he's my bromance brother. Tito lives!)

A massive Thank You to Tate for joining us today on the #AmericanGirlOnSaturn #Countdown!

Be sure to stop by tomorrow and read how to get @Benji_Baccarini's attention on Twitter!

N is for Notecards

Good afternoon, Saturnites! In American Girl On Saturn, our darling boy band heart-throb Benji Baccarini has an unhealthy addiction to Twitter. While he's on lockdown, he's not allowed anywhere near his phone or any computer for safety purposes. Right when he's close to having a Twitterless breakdown, Aralie comes up with a solution. Aralie gives Benji a stack of multi-colored notecards for him to write down anything he feels like tweeting. Over the course of the lockdown, the Bransons's refrigerator becomes covered in Benji's notecard tweets!

Find out everything @Benji_Baccarini has to tweet in 10 days!!

U is for Universe and R is for Rumors

So, I got behind again yesterday, and that means you get two posts today!

U is for Universe.

Being Spaceships Around Saturn, the boys basically have a group of people from all over the universe. Public Relations people, bodyguards, tech people, tour bus driver, wardrobe people, etc. You don't get to see many of those people, but there is ONE person you'll see on occasion... their main bodyguard Tank Rodriquez.

It's characters like Tank that I really appreciate. They pop up two maybe three times in a story, but they stick with you long after the book. :)

You get to meet the hot bodyguard yourself in 11 days, and I'm sure you'll see what I'm talking about!

R is for Rumors.

Many, many rumors begin the float through the Saturn atmosphere while the guys are in hiding. Every fan has a guess as to where the boys are hiding out and why they were shot at! Many people guess the guys must be on tropical islands, in mountain caves, or at the boys homeland, Canada. There are rumors one of the members died saving another. Also, there's one other rumor about a certain member setting the whole thing up to get plastic surgery!

Find out which guy is 'dead' and which one wanted plastic surgery in 11 days, guys! :)

T is for Twister

Today Nikki shares some of the songs that helped her write American Girl On Saturn!

With every book I write, I always have an official playlist/soundtrack. However, today I'm only sharing a select few with you guys. I can't give all of my songs or else it may spoil some of American Girl On Saturn's secrets! ;)

1.) God Must Hate Me by Simple Plan - I always knew this song would end up on this book's soundtrack/playlist. One, it's Simple Plan! Two, it's exactly how the guys feel about lockdown.

2.) Live While We're Young by One Direction - This song actually never made the playlist, but it's heavily inspired Spaceships Around Saturn's new single in the book, "Music Up, Windows Down." If you've listened to LWWY, you'll know where this fictional song title came from! ;)

3.) Chemicals Collide by Boys Like Girls - This is my "Chloe/Milo first kiss" song.

4.) Lightning in a Bottle by The Summer Set - If one song had to be the theme for this book, it'd be this song. It's summery. It's fun. It's slightly reckless and wild. It's just perfect. Also, the lyric about drawing tattoos inspired Chloe's artistic talents.

5.) Blue Burns Orange by Hawthorne Heights - This song isn't actually "on the list" either, but yesterday, Emily blogged about fictional rock band Sebastian's Shadow. They were inspired by HH. Their song, "Bleeding Butterflies," was inspired by this song.

6.) Keep You With Me by Hot Chelle Rae - This is my final chapter song. It sums up Chloe and Milo's future.

S is for Sebastian's Shadow

Good afternoon, Saturnites! Have you ever had that one band who just got you through the worst times. You know, that band that you never tire of listening to? That's how Sebastian's Shadow is for Chloe! They are her band. Annnnd to make Milo Grayson sound even more fabulous... Sebastian's Shadow is his favorite band too!

Sebastian's Shadow is very different than Spaceships Around Saturn. Their music doesn't have a radio friendly/poppy sound. They're a screaming rock band who have deep metaphorical lyrics about bleeding butterflies and sunrises. You can find some of their beautiful lyrics in American Girl On Saturn and see just how important those bleeding butterflies are!

Also, if you have the time today, you should go check Hawthorne Heights....the band who inspired Sebastian's Shadow!

U is for Up, Up, and Away and N is for...Nudity?

Hello, Saturnites! I'm so so sorry about missing my post yesterday. Please forgive me?

Yesterday would have marked 18 days and would have been U is for Up Up and Away. So you get two posts in one today! :)

The Up Up and Away Festival in American Girl On Saturn is an actual even that happens every year in a town near ours. It's an event that takes place before the fourth of July (sort of like a prequel) where lots of hot air balloons launch into the sky. Nikki and I have never been before, but we're thinking about going this year. (It lands on Niall Horan's birthday! We have to go, right?) Also, in One Direction's song "Save You Tonight" Louis Tomlinson actually sings the words 'Up up and away I'll take you with me' so <3 for 1D and awesome boy bandness. Plus, I freaking adore Louis Tomlinson.

Now for N is for...nudity? We have a guest post from Nikki herself! :) Enjoy!!

As a young adult author, there's one thing I know I'll always have to write about – relationships. And that doesn't translate to romance. Teen fiction covers friendships, parental issues, self discovery, and obviously, romantic relationships. Maybe I'm reading the wrong books, but I don't see enough sibling interaction, and when I do, I sometimes wonder if the author even has siblings because it's far from realistic to me. I adore sibling relationships and try to squeeze them into every book I write, in some way or another. From time to time, I even like to dig into the time capsule of my brain and pull from my own memories, and this was something I had to do a lot of for American Girl On Saturn.

When I was fourteen, my dad and stepmom lived next door to my grandfather. On the other side of my grandfather's house, there was a family with two sons – one of whom was my age and the other a year or so younger. My stepsister and I spent many, many hours on my grandfather's porch, giggling about the guys and hoping they'd take notice of us. On one very fateful summer day, the guys had a few friends over, and I was in teenage heaven while they ran around shirtlessly playing football. These boys knew they had an audience, so they ventured into their house and emerged moments later with towels wrapped around their waists. Of course, they had their shorts on under the towels, but they enjoyed the shock factor of playing flag football with towels rather than flags.

Weekend visits to Dad's house were my escape from my 24/7 sister, Emily. For two days, we ignored each other's existences and did our own things because we lived with Mom full time and never had a true break from one another. On that very fateful summer day, Emily strolled up to my grandfather's house, stopped halfway across the yard, and screamed, "Ohmygod! Those boys are naked! I'm telling Kim!" In true five-year-old fashion, she bolted back toward Dad's house, screaming the entire way about naked boys and how my stepsister and I were watching them. Moments later, my grandfather's phone rang, and my very confused stepmom said something along the lines of, "I'm sure Emily must've mistaken something, but she said the boys next door are playing football...naked." After an explanation of the towels, my stepmom was totally cool with the mistaken nudity, but some moments never leave your memory...like your sister accusing the boys next door of being naked in their yard (while you watched, nonetheless!).

While writing American Girl On Saturn, I tapped back into those old little sister memories. The family in this book, the Bransons, have three daughters – Chloe (18), Aralie (17), and the infamous Emery (6). Chloe is like a calm butterfly while Aralie is an angry hornet who won't let you get away with swatting at her. Emery is the wildcard beetle with a pretty metallic shell, but you're not quite sure if she's just going to crawl by peacefully or spit poisonous juices at you. That's the beauty and unpredictability of writing about siblings, especially with an age gap and mixed personality types. As my dedication page will explain, Emily is the Aralie that I have now and the Emery that I had then.

I hope you'll check out American Girl On Saturn on August 29th to get to know the Branson sisters, the boyband Spaceships Around Saturn, and be a witness to Emery's own mistaken nudity incident! Special thank you to Emily for having me today & for her very Saturnized countdown to release date!

When not writing, she's not-so-secretly internet-stalking her favorite bands. She is slightly obsessed with rock stars and surfers. She no longer hides her love for One Direction.
